One of Mississauga's most legendary burger joints has fired up the grill for the last time.
The Fire Pit at 6020 Hurontario St. has burned out. The joint was often held as among the best locations for burgers and late-night eats in the city.
It frequently topped insauga Top Five listicles as boasting both the best onion rings in the city and as the fourth-best late night post-clubbing meal.
"These are the best tasting onion rings after a late night dance session spent pumping your fists in the air while listening to EDM at Central Nightclub (or anytime actually)," insauga wrote in 2014.
While it was noted as one of the hardest plazas to reach, the trip was well worth it for onion rings that "were absolutely delicious. The batter was thick and stuck to the onion like glue."
The Fire Pit was also acclaimed for its Greek food such as pork and chicken souvlaki and Greek salads. While the website is down and the phone number listed on Google no longer works, the restaurant did not announce it's closure. The burger joint had changed hands in recent years, going through a couple different owners.
However, it is now listed as permanently closed, dousing the Fire Pit for good.
