Converge on track with 2022 target

Sep 06, 2023Sep 06, 2023

Local internet service provider Converge ICT Solutions Inc. has expanded its fiber footprint to 600,000 kilometers, according to its end-September report to the National Telecommunications Commission (NTC).

The expansion covers its subsea, aerial, and terrestrial fiber optic cable network from the northernmost tip in Luzon to islands in Visayas and Mindanao.

"We are on track to achieve our targets for 2022, and for the final quarter of the year, we are looking forward to more promising developments in terms of our fiber rollout," said Converge CEO and Co-Founder Dennis Anthony Uy.

The company continues to expand its fiber footprint to ensure internet access to more Filipinos and build redundancy into its network.

"Fulfilling our commitment to reach the unserved and underserved, we are continuously expanding and strengthening our fiber network to serve the strong demand for reliable and accessible internet," he reiterated.

Todate, Converge has installed over 1.7 million fiber ports across Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao in the same period including augmentation in existing coverage areas and expansion to new cities and municipalities.

In July, Converge was awarded the Top-rated Fixed Network in Ookla®'s Speedtest Awards™ for Q1-Q2 2022.

The award is based on user ratings and not just raw speed.

Ookla®, the company behind Speedtest, is the global leader in mobile and broadband network intelligence, testing applications and related technologies.

Already, Converge has laid out more than 600,000 fiber ports in Visayas and Mindanao as of end-July, twice the number of ports rolled out by the end of 2021.

Furthermore, Converge has expanded its coverage to more than 13.5 million homes as of June 2022, which makes it one of the country's most advanced and extensive cable systems despite being the youngest.

Under its Go Deep strategy, the company continues to build up its fiber last mile, strengthening its network in different regions to reach the unserved and underserved.

Likewise, through its Go National strategy, Converge is building fiber links across the country, widening its network across the archipelago to reach new markets, including Visayas and Mindanao.
