Consolidated Communications now can deliver symmetrical 2 Gbps service across its Fidium Fiber footprint. The company also now includes WiFi 6 in all its broadband packages.

Fidium Fiber, which is available in parts of California, Illinois, Maine, Minnesota, New Hampshire, Pennsylvania, Texas and Vermont, offers 50 Mbps to 2 Gbps services without contracts or data caps.

The 1 Gbps service is priced at $70 per month and 2 Gbps at $165 per month. WiFi 6 is the base for a mesh platform, which is designed to increase reliability and eliminate dead spots. Attune WiFi, a whole-home management app that provides network visibility, content settings, time-of-day access control, speed tests and other features, also is included. Subscribers also can get two line extenders with their subscription.

"These enhancements to Fidium's already fantastic service illustrate our dedication to building the ultimate internet experience for our customers," Erik Garr, the president of consumer and small business for Consolidated Communications, said in a press release about the Consolidated 2 Gbps news. "Fidium is about constant innovation and improvement. We think our customers deserve the best, and I’m excited for folks to see just how powerful WiFi 6 and 2 Gig symmetrical fiber internet can be."
