Hersheypark Camping Resort Marks 60 Years in Hershey, PA

Hersheypark Camping Resort celebrates 60 sweet years of camping this summer! Since 1963, the campground has been welcoming guests to enjoy its 55 acres of emerald hills in beautiful Hershey, Pa.

While the campground opened in the 1960s, the story of the land where it now sits goes back much farther. It began 200 years ago in 1823 as the Landis Family Farm. Many years later in the 1960s, the Hershey Estates (now Hershey Entertainment & Resorts) Board established a 50-site campground on the land called High Meadow Campground.

Since its opening, the campground has been renamed Hersheypark Camping Resort and has grown to offer more than 300 open and shaded RV and tent sites and 50 cabins for guests to enjoy year-round. The Landis family's barn and home still remain on the property and have been transformed into spaces to help serve campground guests, such as a country store, check-in area and game room.

Today, Hersheypark Camping Resort continues to operate as a place for families and friends to gather around the campfire and make sweet memories.

For guests who have yet to camp at Hersheypark Camping Resort, our 60th anniversary summer is the perfect time. Whether you stay in a log or deluxe cabin, park your RV at a partial or full hook-up site or pitch a tent along the creek, you’re in for a sweet camping experience. With 50 cabins ranging from basic log to 1- or 2-bedroom deluxe, as well as full hook-up sites with electric, water, sewer and cable; partial hook-up sites with electric, water, and cable; and no hook-up tent sites; Hersheypark Camping Resort offers something for every camper. Each site features a picnic table and fire ring for family cookouts and most importantly, s’mores!

Cabins offer the sweet comforts of home, such as air conditioning, TV with cable and additional amenities. For added comfort, deluxe cabins also have a kitchenette, bathroom and shower. For RVers, pull-through sites are also available.

Additional campground amenities include free WiFi, restroom and shower facilities, self-service laundry, and a country store that sells firewood, s’mores supplies, coffee, sweet souvenirs and more.

This summer, guests can save on their stay with sweet packages that include Hersheypark tickets. As an Official Resort of Hersheypark, guests also receive FREE Resort Benefits, including the best price on Hersheypark tickets, complimentary shuttle service to and from the Park, extra hours at the Park, discounted admission to Hershey Gardens and The Hershey Story's Museum Experience and more.

Throughout the summer, campground guests can also look forward to a variety of recreation on property, including splashes at the outdoor pool (open Memorial Day weekend through Labor Day) and fun at the playgrounds and indoor game room. A community s’mores area, shuffleboard, basketball and volleyball courts are also available.

On select summer dates, the campground also offers family-friendly activities ranging from comedy magic shows to educational animal programs to games and crafts. New for this summer, families can start their stay with Kids' Check-In, offered from 4-6 p.m. on Fridays from Memorial Day through Labor Day. Kids can sign the kids' check-in book, spin the prize wheel, participate in a Hershey's candy guessing game and pick up coloring sheets.
