Shock as Glasgow and Airdrie care homes go into liquidation sparking closure
DOZENS of pensioners are in need of new homes after a Glasgow care home announced it had gone into liquidation.
Hogganfield Care Ltd which runs Hogganfield Loch Care Centre on Royston Road confirmed administrators had been appointed earlier this week.
The 44-bed nursing home had seen occupancy "fall sharply" to an unsustainable level.
Skye View Care Centre, a 24-bed specialist dementia facility on Arran Drive in Airdrie, is also set to shut.
Mark Harper, joint provisional liquidator at Opus restructuring and insolvency, said: "It has been a very difficult period for operators in the care sector.

"The cash flow for both Hogganfield Care and Skye View Care Homes has been stretched due to significant increases in energy, food, staffing costs, and other inflationary pressures.
"Unfortunately, the director was unable to resolve these issues, particularly at Hogganfield where occupancy had fallen sharply to an unsustainable level."
Liquidators stated the "quality of care, dignity and well-being" of residents was of paramount importance and they would be working closely with care home staff, Glasgow City Council, North Lanarkshire Council, and the Care Inspectorate to ensure patients are relocated to new accommodation at "the most convenient opportunity".
The closure of both care homes will be managed, phased, supported, and controlled with joint provisional liquidators on hand to assist all staff members throughout the process.

It's understood Glasgow's Health and Social Care Partnership officers attended a meeting on Tuesday to discuss plans for the relocation of residents.
Engagement is due to begin with families and loved ones yesterday.
A spokeswoman for Glasgow's Health and Social Care Partnership said: "Hogganfield Care Home is owned and run by an independent organisation.
"However, the HSCP is providing support to the organisation's provisional liquidators to ensure the safe transition of all residents to suitable, new accommodation following the announcement that the organisation is to cease trading.
"We continue to work sensitively with residents, families and the organisation to ensure the welfare of residents and staff remain paramount during this difficult time."
